The theme of this festival for 2013 is 'TO HAVE AND HAVE
NOT'.
The overview on their website is:
'Can the roots of
our current economic and financial crisis be made tangible through photography?
The Noorderlicht International Photofestival 2013 aims to peer into what has
caused our current state of affairs, particularly into the so-called “1%” and
its financial and political power at the expense of the “99%”. For this
challenging theme, Noorderlicht calls upon the photographic community to help
us build an inspired, profound and heartfelt exhibition.
The Sequel - Dutch
photographers only
A second theme has
been announced - open to Dutch photographers only - which loosely translates as
'The Sequel'. Seven Dutch photographers have been selected and commissioned to
return to a previously photographed subject of their own, and by making new
work based on the old, to follow up, deepen and re-examine.'
I think this festival is something we should look into a little bit more as the theme is something that could be translated by way of photography is such a wide way.
